You’ll Barely Have to Lift a Finger With BMW 7 Series Gesture Control

Hands the main focus of new BMW Gesture ControlWe’ve all heard the phrase “as easy as a push of a button,” but what about the point of a finger? In the new 2017 BMW 7 Series, exclusive technology will recognize hand gestures, so even that push of a button isn’t required.

BMW is calling it “gesture control,” and it’s just one of the many cutting-edge features to be found in the 2016 7 Series, including ridiculously lightweight construction that’s been grabbing headlines lately.

While most of the gestures have yet to be revealed, the automaker has explained some of the more basic, intuitive gestures. For example, to turn the volume of the audio system up or down, you simply spin your index finger in a clockwise – or counterclockwise – direction.

This kind of technology is not just clever and fun; it’s also a great way to discourage distracted driving, by reducing the time drivers’ take their hands off the wheel to control their audio system and more.
