This year, when the whole family gathers round the television set for the Super Bowl matchup between the Pats and Hawks (or possibly just for the commercials), expect to see a new 60-second ad for the all-electric BMW i3 vehicle. After a four-year absence of BMW commercials during America’s biggest sporting event, BMW is returning to this year’s Super Bowl with a clever new ad.
This week we finally got to see the BMW i3 Super Bowl Commercial. The commercial features Katie Couric and Bryant Gumbel noting that big ideas do in fact take a little getting used to with the “Newfangled Idea”. Take a look!
“In 1994, people had not yet grasped what the internet was, which is similar to how electric mobility is viewed today,” said Trudy Hardy, Vice President of Marketing, BMW of North America. “Electric mobility is at a tipping point. We are on the verge of something great and we hope that with this spot, we can educate audiences about the BMW i3 and e-mobility in a fun and engaging way.”
Here’s a sneak peak at some behinds-the-scenes footage of Katie and Bryant creating the Newfangled Idea.
We here at Union Park BMW can’t wait to watch the commercial live this Sunday night during the big Seattle vs. New England game. What other commercials are you looking forward to? Let us know in the comments!
