BMW fans will soon be adding two new numbers to their vocabulary: 2 and 4. Starting in 2013, the BMW 1 Series will only be offered as a four-door sedan. But don’t worry, BMW is not getting rid of its classic 1 Series coupe. The coupe will become known as the 2 Series Coupe and will make its appearance in early 2013. The 1 Series Convertible will also move up to become the 2 Series Convertible in the summer of 2014.
The 3 Series is getting a makeover as well, and will also only be available as a four-door. Most likely, that means a sedan in the United States and a station wagon in Europe. The 3 Series Coupe and Convertible will become the 4 Series Coupe and Convertible and will be introduced sometime in mid-2013 and spring 2014.
BMW will also be introducing a 3 Series four-door coupe. This vehicle will be introduced in 2015. BMW has made this switch in the past and it appears they are doing it again. Soon, sedans will be known by their odd numbers while coupes will take the evens.
