BMW is a brand known for its luxurious interiors, performance-driven powertrains, and sport-inspired designs. The German automaker has come a long way in recent years by adding industry-leading technology to the mix. That combination has resulted in BMW’s global sales achieving its best-ever half year in 2017.

The month of June came to a close with an astounding number for BMW. The brand sold more than 1,220,000 vehicles worldwide, which certainly solidifies it at the leading premium car company.

To put that number in perspective, that’s the equivalent of selling five cars a minute for six months! Sales of electric vehicles jumped an impressive 80 percent for a total of 42,573 units in the first half of 2017 and the selection continues to expand.

Notably, the automaker hasn’t seen much in the way of sales increases in Europe and North America. Much of the brand’s sales came from Asia and Latin America. In total, sales in Latin America made up more than a third of BMW’s global sales.

The second half of 2017 certainly looks bright, too. BMW will continue to develop electric vehicles in an effort to further increase sales. The green initiative is bound to appeal to younger drivers.
