The BMW Championship

An annual golf championship saw a swell of community support from Indiana golf fans and the Crooked Stick Golf Club. This lead to the event raising $2.8 million for its charity, the Evans Scholarship Foundation.

One of the oldest golf championships in the world, formerly known as the Western Open, has been sponsored by BMW since 2007. All proceeds for the championship go to the Evans Scholarship Foundation. This Scholarship gives full college scholarships to young golf caddies.

The BMW Championship brings in both new scholar recipients as well as past alumni, to caddy for the pro golfers during the tournament. These scholars and alumni then donate their tips back to the Evans fund, which alone raised over a million dollars.

In fall 2016, the Evans Scholarship Foundation has given grants to more than 900 caddies to attend 20 major universities across the country. This making over 10,400 alumni to have used the grants before. BMW North America Vice President of Marketing Trudy Hardy said it is “extremely gratifying” to know that so many young men and women will be able to further their education thanks to the Evans Scholarship Foundation and the BMW Championship.

The 2017 BMW Championship will be held from September 12th to 17th, 2017, in Lake Forest, Illinois.
